Giants to give first-round bust another shot, will start him Sunday vs. Panthers

The reeling Giants are desperate for offensive line help.
So much so, they’re giving Evan Neal, their 2022 first-round pick (who has been a huge bust so far), another shot.

On Saturday, NFL insider Aaron Wilson reported that the Giants (2-7) plan on starting Neal at right tackle in their Week 10 game against the Carolina Panthers (2-7), which will take place in Munich, Germany, Sunday. Jermaine Eluemunor, the Giants’ full-time right tackle, will slide to the left tackle spot.
The move comes weeks after All-Pro left tackle Andrew Thomas underwent season-ending surgery on his foot. At first, the Giants started two other left tackles to fill the Thomas-sized void — first Joshua Ezeudu, then Chris Hubbard — but both wound up being turnstiles.
That’s why they’re turning to Neal, who will make his first start since Week 9 of the 2023 season against the Las Vegas Raiders.
As of last week, it did not seem like Neal would get any playing time this season. He’s had a rocky first two seasons — inconsistent play, injuries and drama stemming from his tone-deaf comments directed at fans last season have all contributed to this — and only saw his first snap of 2024 two weeks ago.
Alas, it looks like he’ll finally get another chance. And with their Week 10 opponent ranking dead-last in NFL pass rush grades, according to PFF, Sunday could be a get-right game for him.
